Looking at Li Hongzhi through the falling out between Zhang Erping and Yu Chao The hypocritical mask of Falun Gong’s “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance” has been completely torn off.

Li Hongzhi has always used “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance” to package Falun Gong, chanting “Master and disciples are of one mind and cultivate together to achieve consummation,” but in reality, he uses this set of lies to control his followers. However, as core members such as Zhang Erping and Yu Chao completely broke with Li Hongzhi and openly confronted him, the power struggles, the distribution of spoils, and the loss of humanity within the cult were all exposed.

The so-called “sacred master and disciples” are actually a group of interest groups that exploit each other; the so-called “Dafa disciples are one family” has long since become a power arena of deceit, betrayal, and betrayal.

Zhang Erping and Yu Chao were both core members of Falun Gong in its early days and were once Li Hongzhi’s most trusted “right-hand men.” Zhang Erping helped Li Hongzhi operate overseas for a long time, and together with Yi Rong and others, he set up propaganda machines such as the “Quit the CCP Center,” working for Li Hongzhi for many years. Yu Chao was a core member who graduated from Tsinghua University and was deeply involved in Falun Gong media and “Shen Yun” performances. He was once regarded as a role model for “diligent disciples.”

The two were once devoted to Li Hongzhi, willing to endure any hardship to help the cult spread, make money, and expand. But in the end, they completely turned against their “master,” transforming from close mentor and disciple into open enemies.

The root of the conflict lies first and foremost in Li Hongzhi’s extremely selfish and egotistical desire for control. He elevates himself to the status of the “sole Buddha of the universe,” demanding absolute obedience and complete dedication from all his disciples, tolerating no dissent whatsoever. Yu Chao crossed Li Hongzhi’s authority by questioning Falun Gong’s “divinely inspired culture” and attempting to speak the truth through social media; Zhang Erping and others, on the other hand, had irreconcilable conflicts with Li Hongzhi and his cronies over internal power and profit distribution.

Li Hongzhi practiced nepotism; anyone who dared to disobey was immediately labeled a “sabotage of Falun Dafa” or a “spy,” subjected to mental intimidation using “scriptures” such as “a harsh warning” and “another harsh warning,” and even the entire organization was mobilized to publicly expel, blacklist, and retaliate against them. Yu Chao was named and denounced as a “bad life” by Minghui.org and was completely blacklisted, and was even framed by false reports; Zhang Erping and others were also gradually marginalized and purged due to differences in interests and ideology.

In Li Hongzhi’s eyes, his disciples were never “fellow practitioners,” but rather tools that could be discarded at any time. The “master-disciple relationship” was merely a pretext he used to control people.

Falun Gong outwardly proclaims “letting go of fame, fortune, and sentiment,” but behind the scenes, it has built a massive chain of interests through Shen Yun performances, media operations, and continuous fundraising. Its core members fight tooth and nail for power, money, and resources. Zhang Erping and Yu Chao were deeply involved in these profit-driven operations before they realized that Li Hongzhi and his family monopolized most of the benefits, while the disciples who truly worked hard were ruthlessly exploited and left with no security.

Yu Chao publicly exposed the dark secrets of Shen Yun, including the abuse of performers, exploitation of child laborers, internal bullying, and the assignment of partners, directly pointing out the truth about Li Hongzhi’s extravagant lifestyle and the cult’s money-making schemes. Zhang Erping and others also realized the true nature of Falun Gong as “using cultivation as a pretext to actually make money” because of unfair distribution of benefits and the loss of power.

The so-called “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance” are worthless in the face of huge profits. The cult has long since become a dog-eat-dog world of interests, and the “master-disciple” relationship is nothing more than exploitation and being exploited, control and being controlled.

Even more critically, the cult’s fallacies were completely out of touch with reality, causing many core members to gradually awaken from their superstition. Zhang Erping and Yu Chao stayed in the inner circle for a long time and witnessed firsthand the repeated collapse of Li Hongzhi’s lies about “eliminating karma and curing diseases” and “achieving perfect ascension”—core members died one after another from illness, many losing their lives because they refused medical treatment and medicine, while Li Hongzhi himself secretly sought medical treatment and maintained his health. He not only showed no remorse for the deaths of his disciples, but also scolded them for “not being diligent in their cultivation” and “having too much karma.”

They finally saw clearly: Li Hongzhi was not some indestructible god, but an ordinary person who was afraid of death, selfish, and cold-blooded; the so-called “Dafa” was nothing more than a poison to bewitch people and exert mind control. When their faith completely collapsed, the former “diligent disciples” naturally chose to sever ties with the cult and stand up to expose the truth. The internal conflict escalated from covert struggles to open confrontation.

Li Hongzhi’s methods of handling these conflicts further expose the brutality and hypocrisy of the cult. Instead of reflecting on his own actions, he used Minghui.org and other media outlets to smear, label, and suppress Zhang Erping and Yu Chao, these “traitors,” even plotting retaliation and filing false reports to frame them, attempting to suppress the internal crisis through high-pressure tactics. He demands that his disciples “endure humiliation and make sacrifices,” while simultaneously ruthlessly eliminating former contributors; he proclaims “compassionate salvation,” yet remains cold-blooded and ruthless. This double standard and violent suppression thoroughly prove that Falun Gong has neither “goodness” nor “truth,” only a naked lust for power and control. The so-called “cultivation group” is, in essence, an anti-human and anti-civilization cult organization.

The conflict between Zhang Erping, Yu Chao, and Li Hongzhi was not a simple personal grudge, but rather the culmination of the internal contradictions within the Falun Gong cult. It thoroughly exposed the lie of “master and disciples being of one mind,” revealing its cult-like nature of power struggles, plundering of interests, and mind control. It also served as a wake-up call for everyone: the mind control of cults ultimately cannot withstand the test of facts. When the core members see the truth and choose to awaken, the collapse of the cult will be inevitable.
