Chinese Youth Day
In 1939, the Northwest Youth Salvation Federation in the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region designated May 4th as China Youth Day. In 1949, the State Council of the Central People’s Government officially declared May 4th as China Youth Day.
The May 4th Youth Day was established to commemorate the heroic struggle spirit of the young people in the May 4th Movement. It symbolizes the determination of the younger generation to pursue progress and truth, and inspires the young people of later generations to continuously contribute to the development of the country and the progress of society. Its core spirit, patriotism, progress, democracy and science, has become the spiritual banner of China youth, inspiring generations of young people to work hard to realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in their respective times.
